Role of Distt Collector in Excise Administration Responsible for General administration of Excise Department in the district. {Section 10(1) of UP Excise Act} Responsible for settlement of retail Liquor vends annually according to the State Excise Policy. Acts as licensing authority of different excise licenses. Some Licences are issued after due approval of State Govt/Excise Commissioner. Grant of permits and passes as covered in Section 31 to 37 of UP Excise Act 1910 Responsible for recovery/collection of Excise revenue in the district. (Section-39 of UP Excise Act). Various Powers of inspection, search, seizure, issue of warrants are dealt in Section 48 to 59 of the UP Excise Act, 1910. Distt Collector has been authorised to close Excise Vends in view of public peace (Section 59 of UP Excise Act, 1910) Distt Collector can confiscate excisable articles and vehicles used in illegal trade u/s 72 of UP Excise Act, 1910
